According to the ICGEB Statutes, the following programs are carried out by the Components and the Member States: 

 

1) The Arturo Falaschi ICGEB Fellowships Program offering:

a) PhD Fellowships (at the ICGEB Components)

b) Postdoctoral Fellowships (at the ICGEB Components)

c) Short-term PhD Fellowships (at the ICGEB Components and its Member States)

d) Short-term Post-doc Fellowships (at the ICGEB Components and its Member States)

e) Smart Fellowships (at the ICGEB Member States)

 

2) Funding Opportunities for:

a) Organizing Workshops and Courses in the ICGEB Member States

b) Collaborative Research Program (CRP) - ICGEB Research Grants

c) Participation in workshops and courses in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses (through covering registration fee and accommodation).

DSC085323. Iran Activities as a Member State

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been officially a Member State of the ICGEB from 2001 and the National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NIGEB) has acted as the Focal Point and Affiliated Center in Iran.

Two representatives from Iran, comprising the ICGEB Governor and the Liaison Officer in Iran, annually attend the ICGEB sessions of the Board of Governors and actively participate in the deliberations.

I.R. Iran also acted as one of the five members of the ICGEB Standing Committee in the first course of its activity and establishment in 2011. This Committee plays an important role in determining the general policies and principles governing the activities of the Centre and taking appropriate actions to enable the Centre to further its objectives and carry out its functions.

In this regard, the NIGEB has actively participated in the Standing Committee sessions by submitting proposals having been always welcomed for the effective ideas for improving governing the Centre.

untitledAs the focal point of the ICGEB in Iran and in line with the ICGEB mandate in promoting biotechnology internationally, the National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NIGEB) has tried to collaborate in conducting the Centre`s programs in the country for the benefit of Iranian researchers and scientists in strengthening their research capability through training and funding programs in the area of biotechnology.

 

4. Iran`s Collaborative Programs with the ICGEB (2002-2014)

*      Submission of 6 successful research proposals

*      Holding 5 courses and workshops in Iran, with participates from ICGEB member states

*      Admission of 9 PhD fellows in Trieste and New Delhi components

*      Admission of 4 Short-term PhD fellows in Trieste and New Delhi components

*      Admission of 1 Postdoctoral fellow in Trieste component

*      Admission of 2 Short-term Postdoctoral fellows in Trieste component

*      Admission of 1 Smart fellow in Nanjing Agricultural University, China

*      Participation of 45 Iranian researchers and scientists in the ICGEB Meetings and Courses
