Oman Ministry of Higher Education Delegation Visits NIGEB
A delegation headed by Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Sarmi, the undersecretary for Oman Ministry of Higher Education visited the National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NIGEB) on Saturday April 25, 2015 to develop joint scientific collaborations between Iran-Oman universities and research centers. He was accompanied by the directors of four research centers and colleges from Oman, namely, the institute of oil and gas, Gulf College and Applied Sciences Faculties. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Mohammadreza Zamani, NIGEB director general. During the meeting, the two sides discussed their shared experiences of mutual collaborations in different fields of biotechnology. Dr. Alsarmi, highlighting the collaboration potentials of Iran in the fields of cancer, diabetes, microbial biotechnology in oil and gas industry, biofuel, bioremediation and agricultural biotechnology, proposed compiling joint research projects on the subjects of interests of both sides. He declared that Oman ministry of higher education welcomes laying the grounds for the Iranian scientists to visit Oman research centers and encourages students and professor exchanges to develop the existing scientific collaborations.
In line with the actualization of the aforementioned purposes, a minute was finalized by the undersecretary of Oman Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Al Sarmi, and the vice minister of sciences, research and technology, Prof. Akbari in a meeting held in Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) on April 27, 2015.
